But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth
of God. (Matthew 4:4)
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful
to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. (Joshua 1:8 NIV)
God intends for His Word to be in our mouth as well our heart. In Matthew 12:34-35 Jesus
said "For out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart the mouth speaks. This simply means when we store good things in our
heart, good things will come out of it. His desire is that we live a prosperous and joyful life when we obey his
Word. When we put God's Word into action the enemy cannot stop us from having the abundant, life God wants us to have. (John 10:10)
He has ordained that our needs be met in answer to prayer. He even moves on our hearts and invites us to ask for our needs. In fact, in Jeremiah 33:3
He promises us that we can call on Him and He will answer
and tell us great and mighty things.
Prayer is not simply saying words or repeating formulas. There is no formula other
than the Word of God. God's Word when spoken has the creative power to manifest itself in the physical realm. When God creates
He says, " and there is. (See Genesis chapter 1) All things exist by the power of God's words. Hebrews 11:3 says, "the worlds
were prepared by the word of God", and Hebrews 1:3 says, "He upholds all things by the word of, His power." Exodus 20 speaks
of the power of God's voice shaking the stones of Sinai. God’s words are more powerful than anything we can imagine.
When God speaks the universe trembles in the balance. When we speak God's Word in the authority of Jesus Christ, it is as
if God himself is speaking, it has the same affect.
For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but
water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, So shall My
word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall
accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
God's Words do not return to Him without accomplishing what they were sent for. This
scripture says that His words return to him. How can His words return to Him? It's simple: His words return to him when you
speak them out of your mouth.
When you speak God's Word, you are agreeing with God and causing that Word to perform
what it was sent to do. You release His power on the earth into your life when God's Word comes out of your mouth. Look at
Romans 10:910, where confession is made unto salvation. Salvation is not yours until you confess (say) that it is. You
must confess Jesus Christ to be Lord in your life. If you won't say it, you don't really believe it. Salvation includes
many benefits and blessings. What we confess with our mouth is a major key to receiving what God has provided for us
by His grace.
God's Word has the power to change your life, making you a complete and whole child of
God. It initiates the beginning of the new life, and nurtures that life and causes it to grow.
"Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all
evil speaking, (2) as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: " (1 Peter 2:1-2)
We may not always appreciate the impact or power of God's Word for it is a two-edged
sword that cuts and divides convicting us of sin in our life, but like the rain it does what He has sent it forth to do. God's
word will never come back empty. The more you trust your life to the power of God's Word the more it will change you into
a person you never thought you could be and the person that God created you to be.
